Betsy DeVos Continues To Fight For The Educational Rights Of Every Single American Citizen

Betsy DeVos is known to many as the Secretary of Education for the United States, but she is known to many others as a philanthropist and supporter of the educational choice movement. One thing is for certain, and that is the fact that DeVos has always been a reformer who works hard to make the world a better place. She was born in Holland, Michigan and was inspired by the Dutch community there to see education as a fundamental right for people in the U.S.A. She has taken this a step further during her career by working to ensure that all American children have access to quality educational programs that their families choose.

Betsy DeVos attended a private Christian high school as a youngster and also attended Calvin College, which is a private Christian college. She became deeply involved in the politics on the campus and continued to be active in politics after she earned her Bachelor of Arts in business economics from the college. For the past three decades, she has been involved in many different campaigns, political action committees, and organizations that support specific parties and has also serves as the chairman of the Michigan Republican Party for six years.

Together with her husband, Dick, she founded the Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation, which has donated millions of dollars to many different charities and charitable causes. Close to twenty five percent of the charity’s donations in the year 2015 went to the educational sector. DeVos believes that the American educational system could do better and has worked to see legislation passed that would allow public funding to be diverted to pay for the tuition of private and charter schools. Her hard work has already paid off in many states, and Florida has been held up as an example. The sunshine state now supports 50,000 students who are attending a school that their family chose.

Betsy DeVos recently paid a visit to Florida and was joined by Melania Trump and Queen Rania of Jordan as she paid homage to an all girls’ school there. DeVos also surprised many people when she made an appearance with the rapper known as Pitbull. The rapper whose real name is Armando Christian Pérez has started up many charter schools in Florida, and the first one opened up in Miami. Pitbull’s rap lyrics are laced with profanity and have been labeled as misogynistic by many, and this shows how dedicated Betsy DeVos is to the cause of educational choice as she is a christian who certainly doesn’t listen to Pitbull’s rap music. While many people have continued to underestimate her, Mrs. DeVos continues to be a force to be reckoned with and plans on continuing to fight for the educational rights of every American.
