CHIRLA was formed after the 1986 act, and it strongly believes in a strong nation and a stronger people who are in control of their activity. The organization works to instill power in people who are over stepped by the government in silence, to create a voice for them, and a demand to be heard. Civil, human, and immigrant rights should be prioritized. The 1986 act strongly exploited its workers which was not right.
The ACLU, immigrant rights project, was established to protect immigrants, civil, and human rights. It links its fights with the court for protection and the laws that side with these rights to rescue oppressed residents. It is important for all people whatsoever country they are from, regardless of their social background to be treated equally. Native people’s rights should be fought for especially during this era of diversity, Digitalism, and development. Women, children, and immigrants are the most victims of exploitation. Lacey and Larkin Fight Hard
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin worked together to gather funds to support the civil, human, and immigration rights. They came up with the Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media. Their efforts to help out and raise funds for immigrants in Arizona had led them to be arrested.
This only fueled their determination to keep up and fight harder for their rights. This is what inspired the establishment of Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media. They had been convicted in 2007 accused of revealing classified information from the grand jury proceedings.
The grand jury had requested for all the names of all those who had read the article they had written online. But Michael and Jim were loyal and true to what they stood for! They knew it was stripping them of their rights and force them to keep quiet since they had committed no crime. Instead, they fired back by filing a law suit against the county.
The case was heard, and with their victory, they acquired 3.75 million dollars which contributed to building their organization. Their fund is meant to help people who are being denied their rights as they believe that people have a right to speak their mind.
